Doctor Who 70th Anniversary Specials (2023)
Doctor Who 70th Anniversary Specials
Look. David Tennant coming back as The Doctor, and not as the 10th Doctor, is something I never would’ve thought would happen, but it did, and he’s as good as ever. In fact, based on some Twitter discourse I’ve seen, a lot of people like the 14th Doctor better than the 10th. Either way, David and Catherine returning to the show for a few episodes is a dream come true. I was counting the days leading up to these three episodes, and believe me, I was not disappointed in any way. The first episode, ‘The Star Beast’ was fantastic, with just a standard but very fun Doctor Who story. It helps answer some questions and open some new possibilities for the future. The second episode, ‘Wild Blue Yonder’, is one of the best episodes I’ve ever seen. In fact, it might be my favorite Doctor Who episode ever, only behind ‘Day of the Doctor’. There’s a few other episodes that might be tied for my favorite. But ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ is so ridiculously good. I can’t say why, because I can't even put into words why. It’s every emotion packed into a single episode. Basically perfect. The finale, ‘The Giggle’, was equally as fun, with a great conclusion, yet a very open path for more adventures. I’ve definitely been left with a lot of questions, and I’m still kind of trying to figure out how I feel about 14’s regeneration. However, the excitement I have for Ncuti and the future of the series is through the roof. It’s gonna be something special. I would like to go on and on about these three episodes, but I’m running out of space. Overall, the 70th anniversary specials were so ridiculously fantastic, and I couldn't have asked for anything better. All Doctor Who fans need to watch them ASAP. These episodes are Berry Approved, so go watch them now!
