(500) Days of Summer
Wow. I have no idea why I waited this long to watch this. I’ve been meaning to check it out for literal years now, and I obviously finally got around to it. It’s just one of those romance movies that you kind of have to see for yourself to really understand just how great and emotional it is. Therefore, I won’t be saying too much, but enough to hopefully convince you to watch it. The biggest thing I thought about this was how it was similar to ‘La La Land’. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Damien Chazelle got some inspiration from this to make ‘La La Land’. I can’t really say why it’s similar, because you have to see it for yourself. This movie is just one of the most well put together stories I’ve seen in a long time, and that’s all I feel comfortable saying about it without giving anything away. It’s just great at taking you on a rollercoaster of emotions. The acting is also fantastic. The entire cast adds a very special piece of talent to the entire movie, especially Joseph and Zooey. Their chemistry is great, and they definitely play with your heart a little bit. Similar to Mia and Sebastian in ‘La La Land’. Sorry for the continuous comparisons. The soundtrack, like the rest of the movie, is extremely good. I really, really loved the dance scene set to “You Make My Dreams” by Hall & Oates. Overall, this movie is close to perfect, and it has one of my favorite storylines and endings ever. I’d definitely, definitely recommend it to all drama/romance fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
