Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Although I think the first Terminator is still the best, this one was still good. I’d definitely say I enjoy the first one more, although it’s pretty close. I just didn’t find this one as thrilling. Don’t get me wrong, there were some ridiculously awesome scenes, and I really loved the whole feel that the movie gives. However, there were just some bits that felt unnecessary. The story was well written, and I love how it continues the storyline of the first film. And even though it’s connected, it still feels unique in its own way. It was nice to see Terminator on the good side this time, even though he’s awesome in both movies. Schwarznegger once again shines, but to me, the real standout of the movie was Robert Patrick. He does an amazing job, and I think T-1000 is the best character of the whole movie. I wasn’t a huge fan of Sarah, and John’s squeaky voice really got on my nerves. But besides those two, everybody else is great. It was also really cool to see Joe Morton (aka Silas “MVP” Stone from ZSJL) and a young Hank Schrader (it was a mug moment). The effects continue to be awesome, though still cheesy (but in a good way). The designs of Terminator and T-1000 are smart, unique, and straight up slick. Because of the Terminator vs T-1000 plot, most of the action scenes were a lot more fun than the first movie. It was indestructible against indestructible, which makes for an awesome fight, and you don’t know who to pull for. I enjoyed the soundtrack even better than the first movie, because it has a more modern sound. One thing I enjoyed about this movie more than the first is that it ditches a lot of the 80s/90s feel. Obviously, you still get a lot of early 90s stuff, but it’s not as in-your-face as the first was. Overall, this movie was epic, though somewhat slow. I’d recommend it to all action/sci-fi fans, especially if you’ve seen the first one. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
