Psycho (1960)
Psycho (1960)
Easily one of the greatest horror movies of all time. This is one I enjoy over and over and over. It’s definitely one of my favorite horror movies of all time, and one of the few movies that is an absolute masterpiece. In fact, it's one of the greatest movies ever made, perioud. Alfred Hitchcock stepped up to the plate and hit an absolute grand slam with this movie, and everything about it is so perfectly crafted. The story is extremely good, and there are so many moments that leave your mind blown, and with each twist and turn, it only gets better and better. This movie also has one of the best twists in movie history, something you never would’ve guessed, but also something that makes sense. Anthony Perkins has one of the best pieces of acting I’ve ever seen in any movie, and he made Norman Bates one of my favorite movie villains of all time. Perkins is able to perfectly portray a psychopathic killer, and he’s able to make a split personality look so natural and believable. The best part of the movie is how real and down-to-earth it feels. Like I said, it feels so natural, and it’s even scarier because it feels like it could’ve actually happened. The sets are also really good, and the old house on the hill is one of the coolest and creepiest houses you’ll see in a movie. But to me, this movie has the greatest horror soundtrack of all time. Bernard Hermann is able to use the high strings as well as any movie has, and the use of the low strings is so beautiful, yet so terrifying. And almost everybody knows the infamous shower scene, and the theme that plays makes it the best horror scene in any horror movie. Overall, it’s one of the best movies ever made, and I SERIOUSLY recommend it. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
