The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
The Darjeeling Limited
All hail King Wes! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched his movies, and they just blow my mind every time. Watching this one is just the same as watching the rest: it’s a perfect movie experience. I will say that out of all his feature films, I think this one is my least favorite. Even though it’s at the bottom of the list, it’s still basically perfect in every way, and I immensely enjoyed it. It did take me some time to get into, but once I did, I was locked in till the very end. The story was so well written, and takes the simplest idea and transforms it into a beautiful and tragic journey. Like, it’s literally just three brothers trying to bond, but so many things happen, and they learn to be their best selves while also butting heads the entire time. It’s relatable, it’s realistic, it’s funny, it’s perfect. I love Wes and his ingenuity so much. The dude literally does not miss. Anyways, the cast is fantastic as always, and star studded as always. The trio of Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman is one of the best (and favorite) trios in movie history. Their chemistry (both the positive and negative) was just awesome. They really do act like brothers, in the sense that you can tell they are connected, but they also fight. The setting was a chef’s kiss, because the beauty of India is fabulous, especially for the brothers. I also love how a good portion of the movie is on the train. It centers the mood around the brothers, and you feel as if you’re right there with them. Lastly, the cinematography and color was astounding. Some of it was a little bland, but the bland that pops out. That makes no sense, but it does to me. Overall, this movie is perfect, like expected, and I’d definitely recommend it to all comedy/adventure fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
