Groundhog Day (1993)
Groundhog Day
Bill Murray is currently my most watched actor for 2024 on Letterboxd, so I decided to keep the train rolling with ‘Groundhog Day’. I’m not sure why I’ve waited this long to watch it, because I’ve always heard such great things. It did feel a little weird not watching it on Groundhog Day, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Bill Murray is an absolute legend, and this movie only makes me love him more. I love the way he’s able to play the biggest jerk ever, but on the flipside, he’s also great at playing a kind, helpful person. You start off not caring for him at all, but by the end, you feel for him and learn to love him. The story was total genius, and I’m glad I didn’t know much about it. I went in almost completely blind, so watching Phil’s…..time progression was very interesting and funny. I think it was Harold Ramis that said Phil lived the same day for about ten years, which blows my mind. It gets tedious, but at the same time, each day is new and different. I will say that the middle of the movie got a little slow for me, and I think that was just because it was literally the same day over and over again. However, it picks back up again, and concludes in a beautiful way. That’s all I’m gonna say about this, I don’t want to give anything else away. It’s a well made movie, and I look forward to watching it next Groundhog Day. I’d recommend it to all comedy fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
