Ferrari (2023)
Ferrari
Unfortunately, this movie did not grasp me like I wanted it to. I didn’t have super high expectations or anything, but I was still disappointed. I thought it started out decently strong, and it had my attention for the first 45 minutes or so. However, after that point, I started getting distracted and restless. I don’t want to say the movie was boring, I just wasn’t able to get really invested. I thought Michael Mann did a solid job with the whole thing, I just never could get into it. I’m not a big car person at all, so maybe that’s why. I did mostly enjoy the information that the story provides. It was cool to see more about someone I know close to nothing about. Ferrari’s personal and business life was intriguing to watch, though it definitely gets slow and drawn out. I was also left a bit confused at times. No a whole lot, but enough for me to stop caring at certain points. Now, Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz definitely deliver favorable performances. Those two were one of the main things I enjoyed about this. Their chemistry, both the friendship and clashing, was interesting. The other thing I enjoyed was any of the race scenes. Like I said, I’m not a car person, but they were shot pretty well. It was loud and entertaining. Especially the scene with the punctured tire (not so much entertaining, but definitely surprising). If you decide to watch this, my advice is to not look up anything about Enzo Ferrari, or his family or business. It’s nice to see what happens as it takes place, rather than already knowing stuff. I have mixed feelings about the movie, so I’m not totally sure if I’d recommend it. If you like historical dramas, then you’d probably like this.
