Hit Man (2024)
Hit Man
After reading some Letterboxd reviews, there are definitely some people that think this is some cheap Netflix crap. I hardly agree. I absolutely loved it, and it’s a refreshing crime comedy that delivers in almost every way. Ever since I saw the trailer, I’ve been eagerly waiting to watch it, and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s actually based on an actual guy, which I didn’t know until right when I started the movie. There are definitely some creative liberties taken, especially towards the end. But I love the direction the movie takes. It doesn’t cram in too much, and it doesn't feel too dragged out. There are maybe only one or two scenes that I would’ve shortened, but besides that, it’s literally perfect length. There’s enough comedy to make you laugh, but also some moments where I was generally nervous for the characters. A great blend of comedy and drama. My favorite scene was the one where “Ron” was wired and confronting Madison. The improv from the characters was hilarious but played off as serious, and I really enjoyed it. The whole movie is very well performed by the actors. Seeing Glen Powell play a bunch of different aliases was hilarious, especially his Swinton and Bateman impression. Genius idea. I also liked seeing Retta as well. She cracks me up, even when she’s serious. The soundtrack was also fantastic. The use of several swing songs was a nice touch to the vibe of the movie. Overall, the movie was very solid, and minus a select few scenes, it was absolutely amazing. I’d recommend it to all comedy/crime fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
