Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
This is one of my favorite animated movies of all time, as well as one of the best ever made. I absolutely love it, as it’s entertaining but still has some heartfelt moments. It’s also such a beautiful and satisfying movie. The presence of all the food is what makes the movie so fun and almost carefree. Of course, it’s definitely one of the most nonsensical movies out there, but that’s what makes it so good. But don’t watch this in the few days after getting your wisdom teeth out, like I did. Cause I promise, it makes you frigging hungry. The entire design of all the food as well as the characters and story is super good. There’s just something about giant food falling from the sky that gives the movie a very entertaining tone. The story is really great as well. It feels like a crazy sci-fi/fantasy movie, but bits of it actually feel realistic in a really weird way. It incorporates science into everyday life in a hilarious way. All, and I mean all, the characters add so much to the story as well. I love the way they all look and act, because even though they’re goofy, you can still relate to them. The movie has an awesome cast as well. Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris, Mr. T, and the late James Caan all contribute in an awesome way. The music is also fun as well. Bits of it are serious, but a good chunk of it gives the movie the feel it has. It’s science fiction-y, which I love. I also wanna point out my favorite moment of the movie, which is when the flying car flies towards the camera while the FLDSMDFR explodes in the back. It’s a mirror shot of the Millenium Falcon flying away from the exploding Death Star in ROTJ. And seeing as ROTJ is my favorite Star Wars film, it’s a fun and personal shot to me. Overall, I would highly recommend this to all fans of animated films, and it’s a great movie to watch with the family. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
