The Lego Movie (2014)
The Lego Movie
This is legitimately in the top 10 greatest animated movies ever made. I don’t care what you say. You can argue that it’s for kids, or it’s dumb and stupid, or not at all realistic because Lego people can’t talk. But this movie allows real men to have real fun. It’s so perfect in every way possible. You might think to yourself, “How can a movie about plastic bricks be so amazing?” It’s amazing because it’s such a touching movie about how a nobody can learn to become someone who others rely on, and someone who can be their best selves. This movie is the ‘Rocky’ of animated movies. I love how it literally teaches life lessons, but in a fun Lego form. It’s not possible to do it better than this. The animation is absolutely flawless, and convincing enough to look like stop motion, even though it’s not. Everything is so crisp, clean and fluid. I don’t think I can actually put it into words how seamless it is. The cast is stacked, with extremely great voice work from Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, and a hundred more. Everyone is so unique and special. I also love how it’s basically a Lego multiverse. You have your generic yellow faced figures, then some original characters (Vesuvius, Wyldstyle, etc), and on top of that, you get the Justice League, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Shaquille O’Neal, and the list goes on. It’s so fun seeing a bunch of cool characters all in one place, and they’re all voiced by someone who knows what they’re doing, and how to make it look cool. I just can’t describe the love I have for this movie. If you don’t think it’s perfect, then I am revoking all of your movie opinions, because they are no longer valid. I’d recommend this to everyone. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
