Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990)
Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III
I think this was a small step down from the second movie, but I actually enjoyed it more than that one. I feel like it tries to take itself more seriously than the previous movie did, which is why it has an edge over that one for me. The story is roughly the same as the first two, with the whole “crazy family kills people for fun” thing. It didn’t feel new at all. The setting is the same, so it was whatever. In fact, no part of the movie brings anything new to the franchise or the lore, except for the return of Leatherface. Although the characters didn’t do much, I actually liked most of them. Of course, Leatherface is Leatherface, and he has an improved look from the second movie. I was surprised to see Viggo in this, so that was super exciting. It was weird seeing him as a homicidal maniac rather than the King of Gondor. The acting throughout the entire cast wasn’t super great, but the corniness made it fun. The makeup and fake blood was fun as well. Overall, the movie isn’t well made, but still enjoyable if you look at it with a certain point of view. Not one I’d recommend, but still (somewhat) decent for a first time watch.
