Ring the Bell (2013)
Ring the Bell
“I can’t live by what I feel, but I live by the truth God’s Word reveals.” Although this isn’t the best made movie, it’s still one that really opens your eyes and hits you hard. It’s definitely not my favorite of all the Christian movies I’ve seen, but it’s still good. It was actually written and produced by Mark Miller, who is the lead singer of one of my favorite bands of all time, Sawyer Brown. He also had a cameo as well, which was cool. I definitely think that most of the dialogue is kinda crappy and extremely corny. The story was also corny, in the typical Christian indie film way. But, it still packs a spiritual punch, and one that can affect everyone. I really love the message that you take away from it. It’s one that you need to experience for yourself, as it’s not something you can always put into words. There is just so much love in this movie, and I walk away from it feeling grateful and loved. The whole movie leads up to a single moment, which as you can guess, involves ringing a bell. When it happens, it’s such a powerful and awesome scene. The characters also make the movie flow together decently well. However, most of the acting is kind of atrocious, but that’s not the point. They all showed a great sense of love, patience, and kindness. Plus, it was awesome to see some MLB players play themselves, such as one of my favorites, Ben Zobrist. The soundtrack was also decent. The main score just sounded like generic music that you hear in every indie film. Nothing too interesting. However, the appearance of Casting Crowns, another one of my favorite bands of all time, really makes this movie special. They’re presence, both musically and physically, is powerful and heartfelt. The concert scene is one of the best scenes of the movie, and touches you right in your heart. Overall, this movie is pretty good, even though it’s not really that well made. I would definitely recommend it to everyone, because I promise, it will get you thinking.
