Men in Black 3 (2012)
Men in Black 3
This movie was definitely much more enjoyable than the second movie. I’m glad the series took the turn it did, because I was definitely skeptical going into this movie. The story was much better, and though it felt cliche at times, it was still fun. The whole time travel storyline was interesting as well as entertaining. I liked the way that the movie was laid out, and it wasn’t too confusing. For me, usually with time travel movies, it’s easy to get confused and lost, but this one wasn’t like that. It was simple yet still intricate. There were lots of fun details involved with the plot that made it exciting. However, a lot of the movie was still pretty dumb and corny. Most of the characters were also pretty dumb and corny. I liked Jay and young Kay, but most everyone else was pretty obnoxious. I definitely don’t think the movie did a great job with its characters. Physically, I liked all of them and all the aliens. Their designs continue to be fun and original, with a Star Wars/Star Trek feel. Boris was especially cool, and he was probably my favorite looking character in the movie. The music was great again, as Danny Elfman continued spreading his talents. I don’t think I really noticed the music as much as I did in the previous two, but it was still good. Most of the effects were actually pretty good, but they were hit or miss. Either you were impressed, or they were laughable. There were several scenes that were pretty bad, but also some that were pretty convincing. Overall, I thought this was a fun and cheesy sci-fi movie, but I’d probably recommend it to sci-fi fans.
