Nightbitch (2024)
Nightbitch
I am not a mother, nor will I ever be a mother. I’m also a man, which is obviously not a woman, so I definitely can’t relate to this film as well as mothers or women can. But I just want to say that I did feel touched after watching this, because there’s something that everyone can take from it. Whether you are a man or woman, you can find something in this to help you improve yourself and find societal problems. The screenplay is just so well executed, and the punch is delivered dead on. The story takes a dive into motherhood, showing what it’s like to be a mother both with and without someone to help. The dialogue is the best part of the film, and helps demonstrate the emotion behind motherhood. Every line delivered by Amy Adams is powerful and impactful. Her performance was absolutely perfect in every way, and she for sure deserves an Oscar nomination for this. Before watching this, I was skeptical, but by the time I finished, I just felt like I could see so much through women’s eyes, because of Amy Adams. There’s probably some women reading this that are saying, “You won’t ever understand, be quiet you dumb man.” Which is true, but let me just enjoy this. I loved how it uses a canine transformation to be a metaphor for everything happening, which wasn’t what I was expecting at all. Like I said, the screenplay is strong. I don’t care what Rotten Tomatoes or IMDb says in terms of ratings, this film is good. Everyone should watch it, because it’s heartwarming by the end, but before you get there, you go through what a woman goes through, and it’s powerful stuff. Fantastic job from everyone involved. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
