Friday the 13th Part 2
Despite this being a lesser movie than the first, I actually enjoyed it more. I think actually seeing Jason for the first time (as an adult) made it better, and provided a scarier antagonist. Granted, his mother is pretty terrifying, but Jason just outdoes her in so many ways. Although the story is basically an exact parallel of the first movie, it was still fun, though incredibly corny. When you think of a generic 80’s horror flick, then this is it. The characters felt about the same as the first movie, except they were downgraded because there wasn’t a Kevin Bacon. But, there is an upgrade when it comes to Jason. I absolutely love him, and his appearance is awesome. The pre-hockey mask Jason is pretty sweet, and arguably even creepier. The music, much like the first movie, was very cheesy with exaggerated strings and a Psycho-esque sound. It provides an intense and thrilling sound, though it feels like every other horror movie ever. Most of the effects were actually decent, although Jason’s makeup was a little too noticeable (but still freaking sweet). Overall, this movie was bad but still fun in many scenes, and I’d recommend it to horror fans.
