Scream 2 (1997)
Scream 2
This movie was definitely a small step down from the first movie, but it was still a fantastic sequel nonetheless. The story was pretty entertaining. I was a big fan of how the events in the first movie were used in this film. It added a fun, unique element to this movie. It actually felt a lot like Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, in terms of reality mixing with fantasy (in a way). You’d have to see the movie to understand what I mean. The rest of the story is great, and I love the connections that the killer makes with their actions. There is a clue or two throughout the movie that point to who the killer is, so trying to guess who it is before it’s revealed was fun. I actually guessed correctly, although it was more random than educated. But, when the killer was revealed, I was still surprised, and the movie did a great job with providing a Scooby-Doo(ish) twist. All the characters were pretty good, and I enjoyed most of them (except one). The acting was also decent, although there was definitely the cheesy 90’s feel. And although the music was also decent, like many other horror movies, there were sections of it that seemed to mirror Psycho. But it still added the slasher/horror sound to the movie, which helped it greatly. Overall, this movie is fun, and although the first one will never be beaten, I would still recommend this one. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
