The Woman King (2022)

The Woman King

  • Holy crap. That’s basically the only way to describe this movie. Very easily one of the coolest movies I’ve seen, every second of it kept me invested in the story and characters. Each character was extremely well portrayed, and even though Viola Davis was top billed, Thuso Mbedu delivered an absolutely amazing piece of acting. She was able to show her emotions so well, and especially in one certain scene, she quite literally drove me to tears. The other great thing about this movie is how even though the entirety of it is serious and somewhat gritty, there were so many moments that were comical and made me laugh. I didn’t expect at all to laugh as much as I did, which made it so enjoyable with it being over the top. The action scenes were freaking insane, and the choreography and fighting sequences were extremely well done. The outfits/clothes were excellent and looked extremely authentic, as well as the villages. The music was absolutely amazing, and the scenes with the tribal chants/singing were stunning, and many of the songs that were sung gave me chills every time. I am already ready to watch it again, and I would absolutely recommend it to everyone. From Davis to Mbedu to Boyega, almost everything about this movie was freaking amazing, and the story was so good, along with an astonishing soundtrack. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
