Planet of the Apes (2001)

I went into this movie expecting a crappy, outlandish, unnecessary remake. What I watched was a crappy, outlandish, unnecessary remake. There’s very little I want to say here, for two reasons: there’s not much to talk about, and I just don’t want to write right now. So, I’ll make this quick. While the story does mirror the original ‘Planet of the Apes’, it has some new creative decisions that make it a little different. It’s not a shot for shot remake, which was nice. None of the characters were super great, but I loved seeing Paul Giamatti as an ape. I like Mark Wahlberg too, but he was bland and boring. The makeup for the apes was decently good, and though it sometimes looked a little…quirky, I actually really liked it. It was a very nice and refreshing change from the original movies, and has a more realistic look. Ok, I’m done writing now. Just know that this movie wasn’t super good, but wasn’t super bad. It’s just meh.
