Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
As the second movie of the Captain America trilogy, this one was better than the first, although I still enjoy the first more. This movie was very well made, and I enjoyed it. I loved the story, and the introduction of Falcon was a great part of the movie. I also loved seeing Scarlett “Mommy” Johansson back as Black Widow, as well as Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. I thought that even though there were several main protagonists, Steve wasn’t pushed out of the spotlight. Many times, the main character feels like they’re on the sidelines when other characters are introduced. However, you get to see plenty of Steve, as well as learn some more about his backstory. I also really loved (spoiler) how Bucky was brought back. It was something I didn’t see coming at all, and it was a great twist to throw in. The Winter Soldier was awesome, and he was an awesome character. I also really loved his design, and he gave me a vibe of a really cool bounty hunter/assassin from Star Wars or something. I also love the continuation from the first Captain America movie, and I love how Hydra lives on. It almost feels like some groups of people that actually exist today, so it gives the movie a great (almost) authentic feel. It’s also great to see Captain America’s legacy throughout the movie, and how even though he is a current superhero, he is still honored through exhibits and museums. The rest of the story was really great, the battle of the “good guys” against the good guys is really intriguing. The action scenes were extremely well choreographed, and extremely well shot. There were so many camera angles used that I really loved, and each fight scene was something special. The CGI was also really good, and I enjoyed it a lot. This movie definitely lives up to the hype that it has, and it was a great sequel to the first Captain America film. However, like the few previous Marvel movies, I found myself getting bored in a few scenes. I still love the movie, but a few times, I was getting distracted from the movie, and a few scenes felt drawn out. The movie isn’t too long, and it was the perfect length. The music was pretty good, with some great themes throughout the movie. There were some scenes where it wasn’t too prominent, but especially when the action and story picked up, it was intense and fun. Overall, I would most definitely recommend this movie to the Marvel/superhero fans out there, and I’m definitely ready to watch it again. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
