Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
So here it is. Some call this the best Star Wars movie ever made. Personally, I put the original three above this, but many people and online discussions say that this is number one. It does have its weaknesses, like all the prequels, but it’s easily the best Star Wars movie, excluding the original trilogy. I’ve seen this one about a bajillion times, and it was one of my favorites as a kid. Much like Episode II, I watched this over and over until I couldn’t watch it anymore. From the opening shot to the end credits, I basically love every second of this. It strays away from the political stuff that you see in the first movies, with a lot more action and warfare. Now, it does put a lot of focus on Anakin and Padme’s relationship, which sometimes gets boring. Occasionally, I might skip a scene or two when they're talking, because it just feels unnecessary. But besides that, this is my favorite non-original Star Wars movie. The story is fantastic, and I can’t fit into one paragraph how much awesome stuff is in it. You just have to watch this for yourself so you can personally witness the action and emotion. I mean, all of Order 66? Perfect. Gut wrenching, but perfect. All the action scenes are also perfect. Every lightsaber battle is memorable, especially (and obviously) Obi-wan vs Anakin. It’s probably the best lightsaber battle in any of the movies. And that’s not a debate. Not my favorite, but definitely the best. The choreography is flawless and fluid, with super strong efforts from the main cast and their stunt doubles. Also, Palpatine vs the Jedi is also so sweet. Oh yeah, and General Grievous vs Obi-Wan. Every scene is so well shot. All the space battles are also just beautiful, especially the opening scene. The CGI is very distracting at times, but it’s whatever. Like the previous prequels, the use of CGI is just too much at times, but it does make for some very entertaining stuff. I’m also not a fan of some of the acting, which can be a bit stale sometimes. Not horrible, just a little exaggerated and forced. Finally, John Williams is a genius, and he turns out a ridiculous score, yet again. That man just doesn’t miss. Overall, this movie is very close to perfect, except for a few flaws. It’s one of my personal favorites, and one of the best ever. I’d definitely recommend it to all Star Wars fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
