A Few Good Men (1992)
A Few Good Men
YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH! I’ve waited so long to watch this movie, and now that it finally came to Tubi, I took the chance. I’m certainly glad I did, because it’s not one of my new favorite movies of all time. There’s just something about it that’s so special to me. It’s based on a play, which was partially based on true events, so the fact that there’s a truth to the movie is kind of cool. The story is easy to follow along with, which isn’t always the case for courtroom dramas. There’s been a few where I occasionally get lost in the details, but I was seriously sucked in for this one. I knew exactly what was happening when it happened, which is good for the viewer. The writing was just fantastic. Not only was the actual drama really entertaining, but the dialogue was superb. The lawyers, witnesses, and defendants were humanized, even in the toughest moments. Especially in the last 30 minutes. But above all, the strongest part of the movie was the performances. Tom Cruise gave my new all time favorite performance of his. I love how in the beginning, he starts carefree and funny, and as the movie progresses, he becomes more stern and passionate. His mood shifts at the same time that the audience's mood shifts. Jack Nicholson plays Jack Nicholson, and his rant towards the end was absolutely awesome. So many great lines were delivered in only 20 minutes, including some of the most iconic lines in cinema history. Kevin Bacon and Demi Moore were also really good. Such a strong cast that was remarkable. Overall, this movie was extremely well made, and one I’m looking forward to physically owning sometime soon. I’d recommend it to all courtroom drama fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
