The Equalizer 2 (2018)
The Equalizer 2
This is the second movie of the trilogy, and I think the first one is still the best, and probably still my favorite (for now). Of course, I still think this one is good, although it doesn’t seem like anything new. The story is definitely different than the first, but in the grand scheme of things, it feels about the same. In terms of plot, it brings in fresh characters and a new story, so you don’t have to rely on really seeing the first one. But, as I said, the movie had the same feel as the first. Although the story was good, I don’t think the motive is as strong, but if you like a bunch of fighting and action, then this is for you. It’s definitely a little gorier than the first one, which I liked. The cast was also great. Denzel does a great job as Robert McCall (again), and I specifically loved Pedro Pascal. I had no clue he was in this, so his introduction was an awesome surprise to me. Ashton Sanders also did a decent job, though I didn’t really care for his character. The action sequences were pretty great, though still slightly choppy (similar to the first movie). But they are still fun and epic, especially the one on top of the building. The music was decent, though a bit cliche. It gives both a thrilling and beautiful feel, but it’s not anything super impressive. Overall, this movie was pretty solid, though still lacking some stuff it needed. I’m definitely excited for the third movie, which is slated for an early September release. I’d recommend this to all action/thriller fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
