10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
10 Things I Hate About You
This is about as late 90’s and early 2000’s as a comedy romance gets. And I am absolutely here for it. There’s just something about the classic high school love story that really hits you in the feels. As big a fan of all the High School Musical’s as I am, I figured I would enjoy this, and I was right. It’s got hilarious moments that give it the comedy aspect, but it’s also got some very touching moments that had me absorbed and waiting for more. I was completely drawn into the two main romance’s. At first I was all about Cameron and Bianca, but once Patrick and Kat entered the mix, it was a whole new ballgame. They were all great characters, even though they made mistakes along the way. That’s why they’re all relatable. You find their faults and realize that we do the same things. Of course, I say that the characters have faults, but I want to exclude David Krumholtz. That man is the greatest collection of cells ever put on the planet. From ‘The Santa Clause’, to this, and then Best Picture winner ‘Oppenheimer’, he is simply the greatest to ever do it. But anyways, the story was cliche but good, and the people made it what it is. I don’t think it would’ve succeeded as well without the talented and personable cast. When I think about it, it’s actually a really simple and overused plot, but for this movie, it just clicks. The chemistry between everyone is natural and just perfect. Lastly, the soundtrack was really good, and an amazing rendition of ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You’ from Heath. Overall, this movie has its corny moments, and the plot is cliche, but the cast and romance makes up for it. I’d recommend it to all comedy/romance fans.
