The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
The Silence of the Lambs
Often regarded as one of the best thrillers of all time, I can certainly understand why. I absolutely love this movie, and even more on a rewatch. It's so gripping, and you find yourself really invested in the story and characters. The movie jumps pretty quickly into the story, so once your attention is pulled, it keeps you hooked until the final conclusion. The way it was written for the screen was both disturbing, yet beautiful at the same time. I loved the route the writers took when it comes to investigating an at-large killer. Using the help of an incarcerated killer to help find the current one was a great spin on the whole movie. And when it comes to a psychopathic killer, Anthony Hopkins absolutely nails it. I thoroughly enjoyed his portrayal, and he executed it perfectly. However, he only had 25ish minutes of screen time, and I would’ve liked to see a little more. But despite that, he still takes the spotlight in every scene he’s in, and I’m very excited to see more of his character. Even though Anthony is usually more talked about, this is Jodie Foster's movie. Everything centers around her, and not just the story. Her POV really makes you get into her mind and connect with her character. It's amazing. In all honesty, it's probably my favorite female performance in any movie. She just kills it. The score was also ridiculously good. It added so much intensity into each scene, which only helps make the movie more nerve wracking. Overall, I would highly recommend this to all horror/thriller fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
