Fantastic Four (2005)
Fantastic Four (2005)
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: early 2000’s Marvel is absolutely the best. This movie proves my point. Is it the best ever? Absolutely not, but it’s so fun because it’s corny, cheesy, goofy, stupid, all of the above. Superhero movies made between 2000-2009 are just so good and hugely underrated. I can’t get over it. Now, there were definitely some moments throughout this that were just so bad and random that it slightly tainted my enjoyment. But that goes for all these movies. The story was solid, although some of the writing was very off, and there was crappy dialogue. That obviously brings it down critic wise, but I still like it when it’s that bad. It was also my first introduction to the Fantastic Four (excluding John Krasinki’s role in Doctor Strange), so seeing these characters for the first time was cool. They were all PERFECTLY cast. There will never be another Fantastic Four movie that will top this cast. I would also like to give a special shoutout to Chris Evans, who is utterly dashing in this. Yeah, the acting wasn’t great, but for me, very enjoyable. The special effects were fun to watch too, but unfortunately, it was very 2000’s. Some were solid, but extremely noticeable. But the makeup was really good, especially for Ben. Overall, this was a silly movie that could’ve (and probably should’ve) been way better, but it was still goofy and fun. I’d probably recommend it to most superhero fans.
