Half Nelson (2006)
Half Nelson
Unfortunately, I was a tiny bit disappointed by this movie, and I believe it to be *slightly* overrated. However, that doesn’t stop it from being a good movie. It definitely hits home for a lot of people, though not necessarily myself. The deepness of the movie was great, because the subject material was sensitive and personal. It does a fantastic job of showing certain issues in a realistic way. At first, I was a little confused about where the plot was going. But once it picks up, you see exactly what you need to see. Of course, Daddy Gosling’s Oscar-nominated performance was awesome, and once again, he gives another performance that doesn’t always include a lot of dialogue. He’s just so freaking good at communicating through his eyes. And you don’t just see his pain and suffering, but you feel it, too. He is able to relate to the average person, which is why his character is so good. Shareeka Epps and Anthony Mackie also go a great job. I enjoyed the soundtrack, as it has a mix of original score and several mainstream songs that fit the mood. Overall, this movie was pretty well made, though some scenes were a bit boring and not my cup of tea. Plus, it has one of the best movie posters I’ve ever seen, and easily one of my favorites of all time. I would recommend it to all drama/reality fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
