Die Hard 2 (1990)
Die Hard 2
The second movie of this action series, this one was definitely not as entertaining as the first. It was still a decently made movie, but I just found several scenes pretty boring. For some reason, I just had a hard time sitting through this one, and I got restless several times. Now, when the action happens, I was pretty invested, because both the story and effects were pretty good. I just had a hard time paying attention. The story was great, and though it uses terrorist characters again, you get some backstory to them right from the beginning, unlike the first movie. They definitely weren’t as fun to watch as Hans Gruber and his men, but they were still good antagonists. Bruce Willis was really fun to watch once again, and I’m continuing to really love John McClane. Watching him absolutely wreck bad guys is very entertaining. I also really loved the setting, and though I still prefer Nakatomi Plaza, the DC airport was a great pick for this movie. I think that the whole “hijacked airplane” gets a little old to me, and it definitely felt that way in this movie. However, the fight in the sky was a really great scene, and I was definitely sucked into that one. The action sequences were really fun to watch, and they were shot and performed well. But, like I said, despite the great action, the rest of the movie felt really slow and I struggled to pay attention. The music in this one was really great, and it has the classic action/thriller feel to it. Bits and pieces of it actually reminded me of Get Smart and Star Wars, which I thought was cool. There are several great themes that add intensity to certain scenes, which is always nice. Overall, this movie was pretty good, and though a bit boring to me, it was still good.
