The Ides of March (2011)
The Ides of March
I knew this movie was gonna be good, but actually, it was very good. Now, it wouldn’t have been at the top of my list if it wasn’t for Daddy Gosling, but I’m so glad I saw it. It was so much more darker (in a way) than what I expected. It does a fantastic job of looking into politics and campaigning in a way that really keeps you hooked. I can guarantee you that everything that happens in this picture is something that has and will happen again in a political campaign. On the outside, political campaigns are all flashy smiles and getting votes. This movie shows what’s really on the inside: corruption, lies, affairs, and tons of drama. That’s exactly the main storyline, but that’s all I’m gonna reveal. It’s not a movie that’s full of twists or turns, but it’s definitely a unique experience if you don’t know much about it. There are great character relationships, as well as awful ones, and that’s where the excitement really is. The dynamic duo of George Clooney and Daddy Gosling are what help make it so special. I really love both of them as actors, so seeing them together was amazing. Clooney does a perfect portrayal of a popular politician who has dirty laundry. I love seeing the drama between him and his staff, as well as him and Gosling. Also, Paul Giamatti. I love Paul. And another thing that really helps add a dramatic tone to the movie was the score. It doesn’t sound super original, but it adds a tense feeling to the film. Overall, the movie was fantastic, and I especially loved it because of how much I like politics and the internal affairs of it. I would most definitely recommend it to everyone who loves dramas, especially political ones. Plus, this has one of my favorite movie posters I’ve ever seen. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
