Saturday Night (2024)
Saturday Night
This absolutely passed all my expectations. I had somewhat high hopes going on, and they were all met. Now, I’m not an active watcher of Saturday Night Live, nor am I old enough to have seen any of the original episodes. But the movie still looked really good, and it absolutely was. It’s a great look into the past using filming techniques that authenticate the time and setting. The entire time, you feel like you’re actually in the studio with the cast members, experiencing everything they are. It feels so grounded and it’s perfect. The story is super easy to follow, but also packed full of problems and mishaps with the opening episode of the show. I just loved seeing the behind the scenes, and the sets, and all the equipment. Just the whole vibe of the movie was absolutely gorgeous. And the highlight of the movie was the entire cast. Not only was it stacked, but every single person played an important role, and did it so well. I was blown away by the representations of each person's character. Each person was a little piece to a big puzzle, and if there was one single person missing, then the whole thing doesn’t work. I’m still reeling from how much I enjoyed everyone. Especially Gabriel LaBelle, Dylan O’Brien, and Cory Michael Smith. Lastly, the score by Jon Batiste was seriously awesome, and helps drive the pacing of the movie. Without the music, the movie wouldn’t have been as anxiety packed as it was, and would’ve been a little more dull. So good job Jon! Overall, this movie was amazing, and I don’t have much to complain about. I’d recommend it to all comedy/drama fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
