Annabelle: Creation (2017)
Annabelle: Creation
This was SO MUCH better than the first Annabelle. First time I saw it, I really hated it. But now, I've definitely changed my mind. If you're hoping for a step up from the first Annabelle, then this is it. Although it's way more entertaining than the first one, the story still isn't perfect, but still much better written. A lot of history gets explained, seeing as this is the origin/prequel for Annabelle I loved learning all about her beginning, as it helps explain the events that happened in the first one (obviously). I also loved the setting of the movie, and it helps give it a more creepier feel. Some of it does feel a tiny bit plain. However, I was actually impressed with the more scary scenes. Several of them were pretty well done. There were a few jumpscares that got me, which is always fun. Those scenes also give a thrilling experience, as there is almost always some kind of freaky thing happening. All the effects were pretty good, and definitely spooky. They helped exemplify the scary feel that the antagonist brings forward. I'm not a super huge fan of the characters, as some were annoying, but that's what makes the movie solid. You need to have conflicts with them so it makes it interesting. None of them really seemed like they had important roles, even though some did. They didn’t add anything crazy to the story (except for one, really). The music good, but nothing special. Overall, this movie was a million times better on a rewatch, and definitely better than the first, thankfully. I'd definitely recommend it to all horror fans, especially if you're a massive ConjuringVerse fan like myself.
