Dune: Part Two (2024)
Dune: Part Two
Many have called this the modern day version of ‘The Empire Strikes Back’. Some have called it the best sequel since ‘The Dark Knight’. I can now confirm that those statements are completely accurate. Because this is one of the best sci-fi movies I’ve ever seen in my life. All the rave reviews are completely justified. All the critic scores are on point. It’s that good. Here comes a tiny bit of bad news: as well as it was made, I do think this movie was a *tiny* bit drawn out. There weren’t any useless scenes at all, everything was necessary. To me though, it just felt slow, so I got a little bit restless at points. But certainly not boring. The pacing was EXTREMELY good, with extremely smooth transitions from scene to scene. Not once does it make a weird jump or take an unusual break in the story. It flowed so smoothly, and it made the movie feel like one giant shot. The story itself was just so well written, even better than the previous movie. The characters and plot are set up nicely in the first one, and this movie does such a great job of carrying it on. I can’t say specifics for spoiler reasons, but the journey of Paul and the Fremens is cool to see. Also, there were some great introductions for new characters, including the Emperor, Feyd-Rautha, and more. Everyone did a fantastic job, especially Timothee Chalamet and Austin Butler. Just give Austin his Oscar now. The characters themselves were so well written, with some nice little twists and turns for them. As I wrap this up, I have three quick things to end with. The VFX was absolutely phenomenal, much like the first film. Clean and smooth. The cinematography was mind-blowing and inspiring (thank you Greig Frasier). Lastly, the score was incredible, memorable, and very pronounced. Overall, this is one of the best sci-fi movies of all time, and I’d highly recommend it to everyone. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
