Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (2024)
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl
Aardman strikes again with one of the best animated films of 2024, if not THE best. There’s also a couple I haven’t seen yet (like ‘The Wild Robot’ and ‘Flow’) that may be the big award winners, but still, this one is my lock for best right now. I’ve always been a sucker for Wallace & Gromit, ever since I was old enough to watch and enjoy them. Which was young, probably around 5 or 6. Anyways, I was super excited to watch this, considering it’s the first Wallace & Gromit centric project since 2005. Nearly 20 years, and we finally have a film that’s just about as good as all the others. In the grand scheme of things, I think it ranks close to bottom in terms of favorites, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. I absolutely LOVED it, as it’s nostalgic but also modernistic. The story structure is very similar to the other ones, as it revolves around Wallace, his inventions that misfire, and the chaos that ensues. That’s the big reason why this just misses a 100% Movie Score, because sometimes it doesn’t feel exceedingly original. But there’s still great concepts used all throughout. Feathers McGraw returns and cements himself as an all time villain. He already was, but he is even more cemented. The production and character designs are on point, again. They always will be. The animation is absolutely flawless as well. This film just shows that stop motion is a lost art, and the greatest form of animation. That’s why I root for Aardman, Wes Anderson, Tim Burton, and Guillermo del Toro as much as possible. ANIMATION IS ART! Overall, this film is just about perfect, and it didn’t let me down one bit. I’d recommend it to all animation fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it now!
