Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
To all the critics who hated this movie: screw you, it’s fun and I like it. Yeah, the majority of it felt like fan service and like Ghostbusters of the past, but hey, it’s entertaining. It’s a nice continuation of ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’, and while that one had a good blend of new and old characters, this one felt a little overshadowed by legacy characters. It has a good focus on the Spenglers, but the cameos also feel a little large. Not that I’m complaining by any means, I’m just saying that from a writing aspect. I love how Phoebe is the center of this movie, and it’s nice for younger audiences. McKenna Grace did a great job, as did the rest of the cast. It was funny, and I loved seeing the comedic chops of both the younger generation and the old. Next up is the story. As I said, it feels just like previous Ghostbusters, and though there’s a new villain, it’s really nothing new. It has lots of references to the past, and bits of it are a little cliche. The first half of the movie also takes awhile to really speed up to the fun stuff. I think a good chunk of it was unnecessary building. But the last 45ish minutes were pretty great. The CGI and practical effects were pretty good, and I love how Slimer and the librarian ghost were physical, much like the original Ghostbusters. It’s a nice callback. Finally, the score was really good, and hearing the main Ghostbusters theme in theaters was absolutely awesome. Overall, the movie wasn’t anything special, but it was fun, and I enjoyed it. I think it’s very underrated, and all Ghostbusters fans should watch it.
