Peacemaker (Season 1) (2022)
Peacemaker (Season 1)
This was SO much better upon a rewatch. The first time it was good, but the second time, my gosh. I have a much better movie/TV sense than I did when I first watched it, so that might be why. I appreciate James Gunn way more than I used to, and I love his style of making things. He just puts such a serious yet comedic spin on everything, which is evident in the show. One of the best parts of it is how realistic and down to earth it feels. Now, the whole show is abouting fighting aliens and crap, which obviously isn’t realistic. However, the actors make their characters feel like actual, relatable people. They act how normal people act. They speak how normal people speak. It works in every way possible. John Cena as Peacemaker is ridiculously perfect casting, and I could never, ever see anyone else as Peacemaker. It’s so cool how five years ago, nobody ever heard of Peacemaker, and then, James Gunn made one of the greatest comic book shows ever about him. And John Cena helps so much, with both his physique, as well as his emotion. In fact, the entire 11th Street Kids team is perfectly cast. The story of this first season is awesome, and while it’s simple, it’s still intricate. It’s not just man vs alien, but relationships and corruption and trauma and everything in between. James Gunn is truly a freaking genius. There’s a reason he’s in my top 5 favorite directors ever. All the CGI and VFX are SO precise and spot on, much like The Suicide Squad. It has the exact same look and feel. The butterflies are sweet, and the Cow is gross yet weirdly amazing. Also, this show has one of the greatest TV intros EVER, and one of my favorites, if not my number one. Overall, this show is near perfect, and I’d highly recommend it to all superhero/DCEU fans. Plus, stick around till the end of the eight episode for a nice little surprise. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
