The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005)

The 40-Year-Old Virgin

  • I did not care for this movie one bit. It was obnoxious and extremely hard to sit through. I know it’s supposed to be really funny and all that, but I just didn’t see it. Granted, there were a few scenes and moments that made me laugh, but overall, it just felt like an endless path of gross jokes (because it basically was). All of the characters were really annoying, and even though Steve Carell is always really funny, he just didn’t have it in this movie. Even though the movie did have a plot and story, it still felt like one giant bag of randomness, if that makes sense. It was incredibly boring. I did really like the chest waxing scene, and it’s probably the most iconic scene of the movie. I liked some of the soundtrack, and the addition of a few select songs was nice. I also absolutely loved two specific details in the movie: one was the scene where Andy was watching Everybody Loves Raymond, which is my favorite show of all time. The second was when Jay had Dawn of the Dead (2004) playing in the store. Everybody knows Zack Snyder is a freaking legend, so being able to see his movie in another movie was awesome. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this movie, and it was pretty crappy. Definitely not one I’d watch again.
