The Omen (2006)
The Omen (2006)
I may have discovered one of the most useless remakes I’ve ever seen. From past experiences with movie remakes, sometimes they’re crap, sometimes they’re about the same as the original, and sometimes they’re even better. In this case, it’s basically the exact same as the original, both story-wise and character-wise. I would’ve liked to see it take some more creative liberties and differentiate itself from the original. It didn’t. Usually the reboots do that, but this definitely isn’t a reboot. It reminded me a lot of the 1990 version of ‘Psycho’, in terms of how similar it is. Nothing new, just the same story with an updated setting. If you want details on this one’s plot and characters, then go read the review for the original one. Like I said, it’s the same. I did mildly enjoy the cast, with Liev Schreiber and David Thewlis being my favorites. None of the cast was super outstanding or anything, but still fun to see. I also liked how it was a little more modern, rather than being in the 80’s. It gives the movie a fresh look. Overall, this movie isn’t anything special, mostly because it’s just a copy of the original. It feels bland and colorless. It’s not one I’d probably watch again, and I don’t think I’d recommend it, either.
