Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011)
Crazy, Stupid, Love.
This movie is such a great ride of emotions, especially since it involves multiple love stories. Despite all the different stories and character relationships, it never gets confusing, and it stands strong until the end. I originally just wanted to watch this for Daddy Gosling, but it offers so much more than just him. The performances from everyone really help make this movie special, even some of the minor characters. It also has one great twist that made my brain implode, even though it wasn’t anything crazy. It was just delivered in a great way, right when you would least expect it. The main plot is also great because despite being a comedy, it still offers some really heartfelt moments and great lessons. It has plenty of serious moments, as well as some that had me laughing pretty hard (particularly the backyard scene). The graduation scene does quite the opposite, and hits you pretty hard. It gives you something everyone can learn and live by, which is really nice. Like I said, all the characters were great, and the lineup of the cast is fantastic. Steve Carell, Daddy Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Marisa Tomei all do a good job, and the stacked cast pays off. I especially loved the way Carell and Moore were able to display their emotions towards each other. It brings both coldness and warmth to the movie, and it all comes out positive in the end. The music was pretty good, though a bit corny at points. It wasn’t super impressive, but still added a nice feel to the vibe of the movie. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to all comedy/romance fans, as it gives you plenty of laughs while still being personal and teaching a great lesson. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
