Moneyball (2011)
Moneyball
Man, what a good movie. I think the biggest thing you take away from this (which was the obvious point of the whole thing) is how baseball is a business, not just a game. If you know me, then you know how obsessed with baseball I am. I love it more than anything, so seeing this movie expand on the financial decisions and transactions of the game was really cool. It’s based on the 2002 Oakland A’s (with some obvious dramatization), so the historical basis makes this even better. It just does such a great job of representing the jobs of each front office person, as well as the actual players themselves. It’s truly one of the best sports dramas I’ve ever seen. It’s kind of hard to explain what I want to see, cause I’ll just keep going in circles about why this movie is so good. You need to see it to understand. The obvious character standouts are Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, who do such a great job. They embody everything that baseball stands for, physically, emotionally, and mentally. I also really loved Chris Pratt (like always). Plus, seeing somebody portray Ron Washington (current third base coach for the Braves) was AWESOME. The soundtrack wasn’t super notable, but still good. The game scenes were shot extremely well, as they put you right inside the ballpark. Also, the use of real game footage was super cool. It solidifies the authenticity of the story. Overall, this movie was fantastic, and I’d highly recommend it to all who love sports/dramas. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
