Johnny English Reborn (2011)
Johnny English Reborn
The second movie of this trilogy, I enjoyed it more than the first, and it was better made as well. Rowan Atkinson continues to be hilarious as Johnny English, and he did a great job of playing his clumsy self. I loved all the characters in this one, especially Tucker, who was played by Daniel Kaluuya. Daniel did a phenomenal job in this movie, and he was easily my favorite character. Although this movie is made for laughs, he does such an awesome job of being serious, as well as having his moments. For some reason, I absolutely lost it in his grape scene, and despite his somewhat serious role, he was still hilarious. I also absolutely loved the old Asain lady assassin, and she was also hilarious. Every scene she was in was funny, and I loved how the writers included her. The story itself had the same cheesy feel as the first movie, although it was actually pretty well written. It had a Mission: Impossible feel to it, so it felt fun and intense. The story was easy to follow along with, but still kept a complex plot. Despite a good story, it was still corny and cheesy, and had a lot of stupid moments. That’s what they were aiming for, but if you don’t have this type of sense of humor, then you won’t like it at all. It also had some very exaggerated moments, but that’s to be expected. The erasure and lack of explanation of previous characters was also a problem, which I always hate in movies. But, it didn’t really matter. The music was actually really good, which you don’t always get in these kinds of movies. Like the first one, it had the same James Bond/secret agent feel to it, which made the movie enjoyable. Overall, this movie was decent, and somewhat pointless, but still fun to watch. I would recommend it if you love secret agent movies, or comedies.
