The Exorcism (2024)
The Exorcism
I’ll be honest, the only reason why I wanted to watch this movie was because of David Hyde Pierce (Niles Crane from Frasier). I absolutely love him, so I thought to myself, “Hey, this can’t be that bad.” Well, it was. It feels like your typical supernatural horror movie that no one knows about and know one likes. There was absolutely nothing special about it. Period. It was slow, pointless, and didn’t go anywhere at all. There were no stakes, and the main threat wasn’t even that scary. Just another possession flick. I do think it’s funny though how Russell Crowe has been in two exorcism movies in back-to-back years, and neither are related to each other. This one was a fantastically big step downwards from ‘The Pope’s Exorcist’. The story was bland and poorly written, the acting wasn’t good (though I love my man David), and it all just felt cheap. I liked the whole “movie within a movie” aspect, and it was a good idea to get Kevin Williamson produce. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work out. Overall, this horror movie lacks everything in order to actually make it decent horror, and I know I won’t watch it again, or recommend it.
