Orphan: First Kill (2022)
Orphan: First Kill
Once again, here’s another continuation of a popular horror movie that doesn’t feel necessary or really add much to the overall storyline. This specific one is a prequel to the original, and I’m not entirely sure why it was made, except to bring back a character that had high praise. I’m pretty sure most of the events of this movie were mentioned in the original, so it’s not like there’s anything new. You’re basically just seeing what actually played out. Like I said, not necessary. One thing this movie does better than the first is the amount of kills and action. It’s gorier and more violent, which I’m totally here for. It’s cool seeing Esther go full force, whereas the first movie holds back. There really are some truly great moments in this one. However, the characters were not all that great, except for Esther. The acting was decent, but none of the performances come close to the first. Spoiler alert, everyone important dies, and I couldn’t care less. You already knew they were going to. Overall, the movie was kind of lame, although the last 20-30 minutes were great, and the soundtrack was good. Not one I’d watch again, but it was decent for a one time viewing. I’d probably only recommend it if you really liked the first one.
