Clear and Present Danger (1994)
Clear and Present Danger
As the third movie in the Jack Ryan film series, this one continues to keep the series going strong, and Harrison Ford also continues to give a great performance. Much like the first two, the story continues to be entertaining and full of detail. Although Patriot Games is still my favorite (so far), there were several aspects of the story in this one that I actually liked better than the first two movies. I’m not gonna say too much for spoiler reasons, but a lot of the story revolves around the government, which I liked. There were also a couple turns that the story takes that really fit the movie well. All the characters were pretty good, and I’m glad to have had both Harrison Ford and James Earl Jones return to their roles. I also really liked the addition of Willem Dafoe to the cast. He did a great job, and this is definitely one of his underlooked roles. I wasn’t a huge fan of the antagonists, although they definitely helped push the story forward. All the action scenes were very well shot, which gave the movie a Rambo/Indiana Jones feel, a lot like the second movie. I also really liked the setting, and the use of different countries was fun and kept it fresh. The music was decent, and felt a lot like the first two movies. Although it wasn’t super original and a bit cliche, I still liked it. Overall, this was a pretty good movie, and I’d recommend it to all action fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
