Nacho Libre (2006)
Nacho Libre
This is one of, if not, the most underrated comedy out there. Everyone that I personally know that’s seen it really likes it, however: according to Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, the movie sucks, which simply isn’t true. Sure, it’s dumb. Sure, it’s corny. Sure, it’s stupid. But that’s what makes it so hilarious. It’s not a serious movie at all, it’s one to enjoy and laugh at. People criticize it because of its corniness and thin plot, but they don’t know how to have fun. Just watch it to enjoy it, not nitpick every single thing. And to those who think it’s “offensive”, shut up and get a life. Anyways, I say it’s a good movie, and I’m the only opinion that matters. Don’t trust RT or IMDb, trust the Berry. Jared and Jerusha Hess are fantastic with comedy (I mean, have you seen Napoleon Dynamite?), and they have another knockout with this one. It’s literally just a guy who wants to be a wrestler, and it's as simple as that. It doesn’t need all this detail and specifics to be interesting. I love the silliness. Each and every character is hilarious, even the ones meant to be serious. Jack Black is so good at his line deliveries, even with his dreadfully fake Spanish accent. He’s got the perfect physique and perfect comedic talent for this role. Plus, his iconic luchador mask and suit will live on in cinema history. Overall, this is a funny movie with a great soundtrack, dumb but hilarious acting, and a heartwarming story. It’s one of my favorite comedies ever, which is why I’d recommend it to absolutely everyone. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
