The Beekeeper (2024)
The Beekeeper
I am honestly surprised by how good this turned out. Considering this is an action movie released in January starring Jason Statham, I am very happy with the feedback it got, from both the critics and audience. I mean, this isn’t the best action movie I’ve ever seen, especially compared to John Wick or the Mission: Impossibles. But, it was pretty solid throughout. I liked the story, for two big reasons: 1) it deals with scamming, which is a very real issue in today's day and age, as well as something I haven’t seen too much in movies 2) it reminds me a lot of ‘First Blood’, because of how it’s about a man with military background that the cops go after. It was decently written, with lots of secret government stuff that was entertaining. The cast was really great, too. As mentioned, Jason Statham was in this, and he’s never been in a movie that I didn’t like. This might actually be my favorite role of his. He was like John Wick, Ethan Hunt, and Rambo all balled up into one bald man. Josh Hutcherson was pretty awesome, although he didn’t totally stand out like I wanted him to. But I like seeing his evil side. Other awesome members of the cast include Jeremy Irons, Phylicia Rashad, and Jemma Redgrave. Finally, the action and stunts were freaking sweet. All those scenes were extremely entertaining. They were pretty well shot, and the sound was cool. Overall, this movie was much better than I was expecting, although the main reason it’s in the 70s for the Movie Score is because in many ways, it’s just another action film. I’d recommend this to all action fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
