Child's Play 3 (1991)
Child’s Play 3
This is such a random movie. It makes no sense why it was made. I mean, it does, but also it doesn’t. It’s literally basically the exact same as the second movie, but with an older Andy and a different setting. That’s literally all that’s different. Nothing about it was original. There were only a select few fun moments, and of course, there was Chucky, but nothing else mattered. The plot doesn’t add anything to the overall storyline, except for Andy’s character. I’m not a fan at all of the whole boot camp thing, which doesn’t really work for these kinds of movies. Like I started off saying, it was random. The writers tried a little too hard to turn this into something, and in the end, they failed. Now I did like the final few minutes, even though they were extremely corny. It had the perfect Halloween vibe to it, which makes it perfect for October. But besides that, I was pretty bored all throughout. The puppeteers did a good job on Chucky, but he definitely wasn’t as notable as the first two films. The makeup and special effects were decent, and especially for Chucky’s half face. It was pretty gnarly and I’m here for it. The acting wasn’t great at all, with a very 90s mood. Of course, I wasn’t alive in the 90s, so I don’t know exactly how it was. But, from the movies I’ve seen, it just has that campy/Goosebumps kind of feel to it. Overall, this movie shouldn't really have been made, although there were a couple good things I enjoyed. Plus, the final version of Chucky in this movie might be my favorite design of his. It’s not one I think I’d watch again, but I’m somewhat glad I’ve seen it once. Only watch it if you like crappy horrors.
