Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas (2013)
Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas
So this is one of the stupidest Christmas movies I’ve ever seen, but it’s also one of the funniest. I was a little bit skeptical about watching this, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy myself. It’s my first Madea experience, and I had no idea how funny Tyler Perry was as Madea. Every single scene he (or she) was in had me laughing my head off. The line deliveries and improv was absolutely genius. However, here’s where my biggest complaint comes in. When Madea wasn’t on the screen, the movie felt like a ridiculously bad Hallmark movie. One of those with a crappy and sappy story with some random love problems and a small town crisis involving Christmas. Most of those scenes were so corny and hard to sit through, but Madea made up for it. Right when she showed up on screen, you totally forgot about how bad the movie is. That goes for Larry the Cable Guy as well. He was so hilarious with his small comments. Those back and forth conversations were pure gold. It was all fun and games until the movie goes back to trying to be serious, and you think to yourself, “What the heck is this?” I like how one of the main focuses was keeping Christ in Christmas, but it was still done in a very cringe worthy manner. But I’m willing to overlook all that just because I found this movie so hilarious. It’s so bad, it’s good. If you like comedies that are super stupid but you still can’t help but like it, then this is for you.
