The Flash (Season 1) (2014-2015)
The Flash (Season 1)
Holy cow, this is a fun show. I wanted to watch this show before The Flash film comes out, and I’m so glad I started it. All it does is provide excitement, action, and pure entertainment. If the rest of the show keeps up what the first season did, then this might become one of my favorite shows of all time. Although a lot of the episodes feel the same, and aren’t always new and original, it’s still ridiculously awesome. A good chunk of them are all the same thing: metahuman shows up, fights Flash, Flash saves the day, end episode. However, through all that, the continuing story of Barry’s mom is REALLY investing. The only other show where I’ve been more invested was Breaking Bad. I was constantly thinking about the events that transpired around Nora’s death, and how the Man in Yellow was involved (and who he was). The season ends on a cliffhanger, which was awesome. The last few episodes answer most of your questions, and then immediately leaves you grasping for more. It’s perfect. I do have some very small concerns about the CGI and effects. A lot of them were really good, whereas some were very…questionable. Of course, it was 2014, so it has the early 2010’s feel to it. I really like the cheesy effects, because they make the show a little corny but still super fun. The characters were also fun, as well as being surrounded by mystery. Grant Gustin is legitimately perfect as Barry/Flash. In fact, based on the first season alone, he might be my favorite Flash. Might. Ezra Miller is still great, but you just can’t not like Grant. I’m gonna give him a few more episodes to see if he’ll solidify himself in my number one spot, which odds are, he probably will. Overall, this show is awesome, despite being a little repetitive and cheesy. I would highly recommend it to all DC/superhero fans, though you should be caught up on the first two seasons of Arrow before watching it. This season is officially “Barry” Approved, so go watch it now!
