The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
The Wolf of Wall Street
I love Scorsese, and I love Leo DiCaprio, but this movie felt a little too jam packed for me. It was still good, but slightly disappointing. I think I set my expectations a little too high. Despite the 3 hour runtime, the movie still felt very crowded and too fast paced. It works well in some ways, but for me personally, it was too much. There were also a few scenes that I didn’t really care for, so it made some bits kind of boring. However, I think the story was well written. It takes a great look into the broker business, and shows the behind-the-scenes that not a lot of people see. I loved being able to examine the actual business itself, as well as the personal side of things. It’s definitely a unique viewing experience. The casting was great, as each character adds something special to the film. Like I said, I love Leo DiCaprio, and man did he show up. It’s one of my favorite roles of his. Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie were also really great. I always love getting a dose of Mommy Margot. The soundtrack was great, with some great covers of classic songs (like “Mrs. Robinson” and “Sloop John B”). Overall, this movie was solid, though a bit of overload for me. I’m glad I’ve seen it, but it’ll definitely be a bit before I rewatch it. I’d recommend it to all drama/comedy fans, especially if you love Scorsese or DiCaprio. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
