Only God Forgives (2013)
Only God Forgives
I gotta say that this movie was straight up strange, as well as confusing. I’m definitely not a huge fan of it, except for a few select scenes. The only reason I watched it was for Daddy Gosling, and though the movie sucked, I’m still glad I got to see him. The story wasn’t super original, and most of it felt pretty overused when compared to other movies. There were several parts that were just dumb, as well as random. There were some parts that just made no sense, and made the movie feel so weird. I did like the gnarly scenes, though besides those, the movie just felt odd. I wasn’t a fan of any of the characters, obviously except for Ryan. He has the same feel as he did in Drive, when he can communicate solely through his eyes and expression. The acting was decent, but the characters were just kind of bland. One thing I did really like about this movie was the visuals. It was very vivid, and used lots of color/neon lights in several scenes. Some of those scenes almost had a Blade Runner kind of feel. I also did enjoy the fight scenes as well, as seeing Daddy Gosling in action is always a treat. The music was decently good, though not anything memorable. It definitely added some flair to both the movie and story. Overall, I definitely won’t watch it again, nor would I recommend it, unless you just want to really watch Ryan.
