Saw (2004)
Saw
I can definitely say this is one of the creepiest horror movies I’ve seen, and there is almost always something intense happening in every scene. A very creative idea behind the movie, the writer's definitely did a great job with the story. The idea of having a psychopathic killer making his victims kill themselves in the end is a really good idea. It also makes for an interesting movie because in many slasher flicks, you just see the killer make his kill and then move on to the next victim. In this one, you actually see the intricate plan and traps that he sets, and it really dives in depth to his master plan instead of just a hit-and-run situation (if that makes sense). Although the Jigsaw doll is so iconic in the horror movie community, it only has a few minutes of screen time, which I was very disappointed with. I was also confused at some points in the film because of the switch between past and present, and at certain parts I wasn’t sure whether the scene was currently happening, or had already happened. There were also a few loose ends that never got tied up, which also left me confused because I didn’t understand a few things. Overall though, it was pretty good, and for a low budget film, it was really good. The music was great, the acting (especially Cary Elwes) was really good, and the ending has a really nice twist that I never saw coming. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
